Toshiba Asia Pacific Participated in Earth Hour 2014

In recent years, the world is facing issues of climate change, and there is an increasing awareness and understanding on environmental issues. Recognising this challenge, Toshiba Asia Pacific once again participated in Earth Hour – a global environmental campaign, to support the cause of saving energy. Earth Hour was held on 29 March 2014, Saturday, 8.30pm to 9.30pm in each country’s local time and Toshiba switched off the lights of the billboards in 4 locations of Southeast Asia. The billboards are located in Indonesia (Jakarta), Thailand (Bangkok), and Vietnam (Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City). Toshiba Group has participated in this event every year since officially announcing participation in Japan in 2010.

Earth Hour, a global environmental movement of World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), is one of the first open-sourced environmental campaigns; it has grown from a symbolic event in one city into a global movement, crowd-sourcing actions from individuals, businesses, organisations and governments to generate environmental outcomes.

Toshiba is guided by a corporate philosophy rooted in the concept of “Committed to People, Committed to the Future.” Our approach to management is grounded in its recognition of corporate social responsibility and a determination to contribute to society as a “corporate citizen of planet earth”.
