As TOS Energy Malaysia Sdn Bhd celebrates its 10th Year Anniversary in Malaysia, Mr. Fumio Otani, Managing Director of Toshiba Asia Pacific Pte., Ltd (TAPL) and Corporate Representative for Asia of Toshiba Corporation shares about Toshiba’s contributions and commitment in Asia.

Toshiba Corporation is on course to achieving our target profit of 6.3 trillion yen (US$6.8 billion) for the group’s financial year 2013 (FY2013) ending March 2014 according to Mr. Fumio Otani, the Corporate Representative for Asia of Toshiba Corporation, and the Managing Director of TAPL .

“We are in good shape to achieve it as the third quarter 2013 delivered very good numbers,” he says in an interview with renowned Malaysian television newscaster Saiful Nizam of TV3 fame.

“With strategic key pillars in the areas of energy, data storage and healthcare sectors, Toshiba is poised to deliver and implement high-quality, energy-efficient technologies and highly customizable solutions to customers in this region,” he says.

This includes power generation, transmission & distribution, railway systems for urban transportation, water purification and sewage management treatment systems.

In addition, Mr. Otani adds that Toshiba is also in the position to provide community solutions ranging from energy-efficient air-conditioning, lighting and elevator and building management systems.

“Leveraging Toshiba’s strength in the electronics sector in the region, the group is expanding its ICT business in cloud service and integrated storage systems,” Mr. Otani says. “This recognizes today’s needs to provide high-speed information transfer for operational efficiency in demanding environments.”

He adds that with the growing population and increasing affluence in the Asia Pacific region, healthcare is important and Toshiba aims to provide high quality medical systems for disease prevention, patient care and advanced medical treatment.

In conjunction with TOS Energy Malaysia’s 10th year anniversary celebration, Mr Otani shares the company’s plans for the existing businesses in Malaysia, further strengthening our support for Malaysia.

“For the future, we look forward that contributions from TOS Energy Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (TOSEM) will increase more to overall Toshiba group,” he says.

Toshiba is continuously looking for opportunities with the proposed high speed rail project from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore.

Continuing its expansion in the region, the next countries TAPL is looking at are Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia.

Also, Toshiba is looking to expand aggressively in Indonesia. “We already have an office in Indonesia as well as a factory but we would like also like to provide more infrastructure projects like railways. We would also like to provide sorting machines for their post offices,” he says.

Mr. Otani says that as Indonesia and its population grows, Toshiba’s presence in the country grows with it.

He adds that these countries are starting to develop and Toshiba will provide better quality products for an increasingly affluent market in Asia.
