Customers, Business Partners and Media Friends, Toshiba Group as a whole is positioning itself as a strong global competitor by aiming to achieve strong positions in markets where vast economic growth is expected, particularly in the emerging economies of the Asia region. Toshiba Asia Pacific is the regional headquarter for Southeast Asia, India and Oceania. Apart from corporate governance through its regional administrative function, it is also essential that we act as a platform for the creation and expansion of our businesses. Toshiba as one of the leading electronics manufacturers requires us to keep innovating and honing our manufacturing skills in order to produce consumer goods of superior quality. However, there is also immense growth potential in the area of Business-to-Business sector. With Toshiba’s regional headquarter located in Singapore, it is an excellent opportunity to use Singapore as a hub for expanding our infrastructure business to the rest of the region. In April 2012, we established our first overseas water treatment R&D centre outside of Japan, located in Singapore’s national water agency PUB’s Water Hub. Moving forward, we will continue to promote the development of technology towards establishing a global business in industrial water solution. Social infrastructure business is considered fundamental for every country in its development. Besides providing products and services, we should also think about how we can give back to the society. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is one aspect that Toshiba Asia Pacific regards strongly. While Toshiba has long been playing a proactive role in CSR, we believe in challenging ourselves in differentiation of CSR. Differentiation is important. It would be interesting to explore this area and we are eager to further contribute to the society. These are exciting times for Toshiba Asia Pacific as we focus on meeting our challenges ahead while continuing efforts in providing our customers with innovative technology and products in Asia Pacific. |
