As part of Toshiba Group Volunteer Days 2020, Toshiba group of companies in Singapore joined hands for the fifth time to raise funds for beneficiaries of Sunbeam Place @ Children’s Society, one of Singapore Children’s Society’s 12 service centres.
Toshiba Group recognizes corporate volunteering as a sustainable corporate social responsibility (CSR) activity and dedicates December as the month of group-wide volunteering efforts, in conjunction with the United Nations’ International Volunteer Day. Toshiba employees are encouraged to embody the spirit of volunteerism, by strengthening relationships and serving the communities in which we operate in. Guided by the Basic Commitment of the Toshiba Group, “Committed to People, Committed to the Future.”, Toshiba envisions to be a corporate group that contributes to building a sustainable society.
This year, the fundraising was carried out via Give2Children (G2C) Centre Campaign ― an online crowdfunding platform by Singapore Children’s Society. In addition, gifts in the form of donations-in-kind and a sponsored breakfast were provided to beneficiaries. Donations-in-kind include a laundry dryer as well as essential medical supplies such as masks and hand sanitizers.
“In these challenging times, every helping hand will go a long way to make a real difference, and we are heartened to continue this journey of growth with Sunbeam Place,” said Mr. Ryuji Maruyama, Corporate Representative for Asia, Toshiba Corporation and Managing Director, Toshiba Asia Pacific Pte Ltd.
Singapore Children’s Society protects and nurtures children and youth of all races and religions. In 2019, the Society reached out to 66,966 children, youth and families in need. Established in 1952, its services have evolved to meet the changing needs of children.
Toshiba has been supporting Sunbeam Place @ Children’s Society previously by providing donations that enables access to further learning opportunities. Past events include visits to the Toshiba TEC factory, Botanic Gardens, NEWater Centre and Science Centre.
