– Donating Power TVs to Vietnam SOS Children’s Village

HCMC, Vietnam—Toshiba Vietnam Consumer Products Co., Ltd. today donated 14 of its popular Power TV sets to SOS Children’s Villages, the international NGO that brings hope and shelter to disadvantaged children around the world and in Vietnam. The TVs were handed over to SOS Children’s Villages by Mr. Takuro Teruya, Sales and Marketing Assistant Director of Toshiba Vietnam Consumer Products Co., Ltd. and Ms. Tang Thanh Ha, Toshiba’s brand ambassador in Vietnam, at a ceremony at the SOS Children’s Villages in Go Vap district. The televisions will be distributed to the NGO’s 14 branches across Vietnam.

Toshiba and its global group of companies seek to contribute to society by delivering products and services that add to quality of life and, through involvement in the community, by supporting initiatives in areas ranging from social welfare to environmental preservation. In Vietnam, where group activities range from consumer products to social infrastructure, Toshiba is supporting such activities as environmental clean-ups and employee blood drives. In extending its support to SOS Children’s Villages, Toshiba is joining hands with Ms. Tang, a strong advocate for children and the charities that support them.

The Power TV donation will bring entertainment, diversion and exposure to the wider world to disadvantaged children across Vietnam. This sentiment was underlined at the presentation ceremony by Mr. Teruya, who said: “Toshiba Vietnam Consumer Products Co., Ltd. is delighted to work with Tang Thanh Ha on this donation drive. By bringing high quality LCD TVs into the lives of these children, we hope to provide an opportunity for them to enjoy a window on the world.”

Ms. Tang, Toshiba’s Brand Ambassador also expressed her enthusiasm for this donation activity. She said: “I have always been passionate about supporting causes for charity in Vietnam. Since I am involved in much charity work usually for children and the environment, I would like to do my part for the children of SOS Children’s Villages this time. It is wonderful that Toshiba is able to support this meaningful activity with me and bring happiness to the Vietnamese children through their products.”

The LCD TVs in Toshiba’s Power TV series bring quality viewing to wide segments of the market at affordable prices. Specially designed to meet the demands of emerging markets, they incorporate such advanced functions as “Auto View,” which monitors room brightness and automatically adjusts image backlighting and other parameters, and “Auto Signal Booster,” which improves signal sensitivity and allows viewing in areas with weak signal strengths.

Through Power TVs and other products, Toshiba seeks to understand and meet the needs of Vietnamese consumers as part of its lasting commitment to Vietnam.
