« Back Toshiba Subsidiary Donates Solar Power System to Elementary School in Philippines

A ceremony to mark Toshiba Plant Systems & Services Corporation's donation was held on 1 October 2016

TOKYO – Toshiba subsidiary Toshiba Plant Systems & Services Corporation (TPSC) today announced that it has donated a solar power system with storage battery system to Sto. Niño Elementary School in Philippines. Located in the Province of Laguna, 10km away from Central San Pablo where there is no electricity power, TPSC’s system will provide about 5kW of electricity and enable the school’s 150 students to study comfortably with lighting in times of bad weather.

Following a request from the Tokyo Akasaka Lions Club, a sister club of San Pablo City Host Lions Club, to help enhance education and literacy in San Pablo, TPSC decided to support the cause by donating the solar power system with storage battery system to Sto. Niño Elementary School.

On 1 October, a ceremony to mark TPSC’s donation was held at the general meeting of San Pablo City Host Lions Club. TPSC PHILIPPINES CORPORATION will be taking charge of installing the system at the roof of the school’s building, and electricity generation will commence in late November 2016.

As part of corporate social responsibility, TPSC has been providing educational support to other countries. For example, it is involved in the solar lantern project aimed at sending a “light” to an elementary school in an un-electrified area in India and other school construction projects. Going forward, TPSC will continue to extend development assistance to support activities in other countries.
