Toshiba Partners Children’s Society with “Toshiba Rays of Hope 2022”

Toshiba Group has designated December as the “Sustainability Month. Concurrently, we carry out our global annual initiative – “Toshiba Group Volunteer Days 2022”, in conjunction with United Nations International Volunteer Day. Toshiba employees believe in embodying the spirit of volunteerism, where we help one another by forging bonds and strengthening relationships within the communities in which we operate.

As part of “Toshiba Group Volunteer Days 2022”, five Toshiba groups of companies in Singapore joined hands for the 7th time to raise funds for Sunbeam Place @ Children’s Society, one of the centers under our nominated charity – Singapore Children’s Society. The fundraiser was held via Give2Children (G2C) ― an online crowdfunding platform by Singapore Children’s Society. We are delighted to have received generous donations, allowing us to reach our goal.

Mr. Fukuchi Hiroshi, Corporate Representative – Asia Pacific, Toshiba Corporation and Managing Director, Toshiba Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd shared that “Toshiba is honored to partner with Sunbeam Place @ Children’s Society again this year to make a meaningful contribution to our community’s children and youth, and thereby continuing to bring hope and smiles to the beneficiaries under their care.”

As part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity to promote sustainability, several residents from Sunbeam Place @ Children’s Society were invited to City Sprouts; the space was designed to encapsulate the concepts of subsistence farming in the city. The curated program, intended as a learning journey, starts with a farm tour, where the participants will get to identify various local herbs and flowers-followed by an introduction to composting to gain a deeper understanding of sorting and reducing waste. Lastly, the residents participated in a hands-on workshop on Kokedama Ball making; not only did they learn about the benefits of Kokedama, but they were overjoyed to bring back their hanging Kokedama with them!

The Toshiba Group is guided by our long-standing commitment, “Committed to People, Committed to the Future”, a statement that expresses our enduring credo to contribute to the development of society through our business. While ensuring our sustainable growth globally and regionally, we strive to improve our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance while cooperating with diverse stakeholders to create and provide rich value.

This year, once again, it’s an opportunity for us to create a learning experience for the children and youth that will go a long way to promote sustainability and make a meaningful difference in our communities. Together, we fulfill our purpose to turn on the promise of a new day.
