Toshiba Rays of Hope 2024: Empowering Children through Sustainability Learning

For the 11th consecutive year, Toshiba Group companies in Singapore came together for the “Toshiba Group Volunteer Days FY2023,” an event that has become an annual tradition. This year’s activities encompassed two significant components: an outing for the beneficiary and a fundraising initiative.

The two-week fundraising effort aimed to support Sunbeam Place @ Children’s Society, a centre operated by Singapore Children’s Society. Utilizing the Give2Children (G2C) online crowdfunding platform, we are delighted to have received generous contributions, allowing us to surpass our targeted amount.

As part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) agenda to promote sustainability, residents from Sunbeam Place @ Children’s Society were treated to a memorable day at Marina Barrage on 13th March 2024.

The highlight of the outing was a visit to the Sustainable Singapore Gallery, which offered insights into Singapore’s sustainable development efforts. Additionally, residents participated in a hands-on upscaling workshop, where they created ‘Fabric Yarn Coaster Mats’ from reused materials, showcasing their creativity and environmental consciousness.

Mr. Kazutoshi Hashimoto, Managing Director of Toshiba Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd., expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate once again with Sunbeam Place @ Children’s Society. He highlighted Toshiba’s commitment to nurturing the needs of children and youth while caring for the environment and emphasized the importance of such initiatives in the community.

Toshiba Group’s guiding principle, “Committed to People, Committed to the Future,” underscores its dedication to societal advancement through business endeavors. Focusing on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance, Toshiba collaborates with diverse stakeholders to deliver value while ensuring sustainable global and regional growth.

Once again, we seized the opportunity to provide the children with a learning experience to foster a deep understanding of sustainability principles and positively impact our communities for years to come. Together, we are fulfilling our purpose to turn on the promise of a new day.
