« Back Environment Month Celebration

June is the month of “World Environment Day” and as a part of Toshiba Group, being a eco leading company, Toshiba Storage Device (Philippines), Inc. (hereinafter called TSDP) celebrates the said event through promotion of different environment activities.

TSDP joined the celebration by initiating and conducting a tree planting activity and a dialogue with local industry members dubbed as “Eco Talk” with the objective of identifying and addressing environmental issues affecting the community.

The tree planting was conducted on June 24, 2010 at Carmelray Industrial Park I (CIP I) Grounds. TSDP, represented by VP Yamane and Facilities Engineering-Environment, and in cooperation with Carmelray Locators Environment Association (CLEAn) members planted a total of 300 Mahogany and Mabolo saplings. During the said activity, the participants also initiated a “Clean-up Drive” at the tree planting site.

The day”s event proceeded with a factory tour at TSDP emission sources- the power plant, hazardous waste and scrap area, to demonstrate the company”s efforts to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and properly manage its generated wastes, in which could encourage the locators for continuous improvement of their business activities.

The “Eco Talk” program then followed wherein an environment learning session and open forum was featured. Amongst the topics conferred by the participants is the CIP I wastewater treatment facility and regulations requirements, effluent laboratory analysis tested by external laboratory and other treatment technologies. The discussion presented options to locators on what actions to take to further reduce their impacts and strengthen their environmental performance.
