« Back Toshiba Group "Plant-A-Tree" Program 2012

A total of 62 volunteers from Toshiba group companies namely Toshiba Asia Pacific Ptd Ltd, Toshiba Singapore Pte Ltd, Toshiba TEC Singapore Pte Ltd, Toshiba Consumer Marketing Singapore Pte Ltd, Toshiba Electronics Asia (Singapore) Pte Ltd and Toshiba Medical Systems Pte Ltd, took part in this year’s Plant-A-Tree program, it is in collaboration with National Parks Board and Garden City Fund.

On 7 September 2012, the event located at Ang Mo Kio Town Garden Park. A total of 26 saplings were planted. The tropical native tree species that was planted is.: Flacourtia inermis Roxb.
Gracing the event with their presence were, the VIPs from NPark: Mr Kartini Omar Hor (Director) and Mr Tay Boon Sin (Community Parks Assistant Director).

All the volunteers and VIPs from NPark arrived promptly at 1.30 pm and together took a short walk up the hill to the tree-planting site.

Corporate Representative – Asia and Managing Director of Toshiba Asia Pacific, Mr Fumio Otani welcomed everyone with enlightening words. In his speech, “With the assistance of National Parks and Garden City Fund, we are focused on planting trees as part of Toshiba’s efforts to be a Green and Environmentally-Conscious company. It is Toshiba Corporation’s goal to plant 1.5 million trees globally by 2025 as part of our 150th Year Anniversary celebration. This partnership between National Parks and Toshiba is also in line with the “City in a Garden” vision, which involves the community to conserve our natural heritage.”

This partnership between Nparks and Toshiba is working together on this first wildlife habitat project at the garden. As part of this project, biodiversity session will be carried out covering 5 hectares of forested park in housing development board heartlands. Results of the study will provide NParks with valuable information to aid wildlife conservation.
