« Back Toshiba Singapore - Eco Action Day 2010

On 3 June 2010, Toshiba Singapore organized a Mangrove Tree Planting & Coastal Clean-up event as part of our Eco Action Day activity.

A total of 26 employees from various Divisions and Departments waded out into the swampy and muddy site at Sungei Buloh Wetland Nature Reserve, to plant 30 mangrove tree saplings.

Planting of mangrove trees are important as their roots can be home to many different animals and the leaves provide food for many kinds of creatures. After successfully planting the mangrove trees, employees continued to cleanup the coastal shoreline.

The activity started with a briefing on the safety issues and why it was necessary to clean the area. Coastal cleanup is dependent on the tide timing, especially during very low tide where lots of rubbish had been washed ashore. Within a short span of time, the group managed to pick up soiled plastic bags, disposable nappies, plastic bottles, styrofoam, cans, straws etc from the shore. The collection weighed a total of 45kgs.

It”s great to see TSP making good effort to save the environment on this Eco Action Day!
