« Back Toshiba to Donate Power TVs to Schools in Southeast Asia

In a quest to promote football and offer students an opportunity to catch their football stars in action, Toshiba has embarked on a regional campaign with Asian Football Confederation (AFC) which is designed to appeal to football fans throughout the ASEAN region.

Through the campaign, aptly known as “Enjoy Football with Power TV”, Toshiba has pledged to double the contribution of Power TVs based on the number of goals scored at the Asean Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup 2010, which was held from December 1 to December 29, 2010. As the total number of goals scored during the AFF Suzuki Cup 2010 was 51, Toshiba will donate 102 sets of Power TVs to various schools in Southeast Asia, namely Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam.

The Power TV series is a range designed to offer quality viewing to a wide segment of the market. The Power TV series is equipped with ‘Auto Signal Booster’, a feature that improves signal sensitivity and allows viewing in areas with weak signal strengths. It also enhances the viewing experience with 20w high power audio speakers which are more powerful than most LCD TVs.

Mr. Yoshihiro Okura, Director of Toshiba Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. presented the Power TVs to Mr. Alex Soosay, General Secretary of AFC, at an event held recently.

“We are very pleased to support AFC projects as football is a powerful tool that helps in the development of youth in ASEAN countries. It is also in line with our corporate philosophy of “Committed to People, Committed to the Future”, a belief that by contributing to the society in which we operate, we promote social welfare and community development at the same time,” said Mr. Yoshihiro Okura.

Mr. Alex Soosay said,”We are honored to work with Toshiba on this programme as it is in tandem with our own outreach initiative. The campaign with AFC is a viable platform to encourage people to watch and participate in football. The Power TV donation by Toshiba signifies their commitment to nurture the future generation.”
