Fundraising on G2C website: Toshiba Rays of Hope 2021”

At Toshiba Group, we dedicate the month of December as the “Sustainability Month.” With the unwavering drive to contribute to a better world, Toshiba envisions to be a corporate group that contributes to building a sustainable society. This is very much guided by our long-standing commitment, “Committed to People, Committed to the Future.”

December is also designated to carry out our global annual initiative – “Toshiba Group Volunteer Days 2021”, in conjunction with United Nations International Volunteer Day. Toshiba employees believe in embodying the spirit of volunteerism, where we help one another by forging bonds and strengthening relationships within the communities in which we operate.

As part of “Toshiba Group Volunteer Days 2021”, Toshiba group of companies in Singapore join hands for the 6th time to raise funds for Sunbeam Place @ Children’s Society, which is one of the centres under our nominated charity – Singapore Children’s Society. Established in 1952, Singapore Children’s Society protects and nurtures children and youth of all races and religions. In 2020, the Society reached out to 34,654 children, youth, and families in need. Its services have also evolved to meet the changing needs of children.

Due to the COVID-19 safety measurements, the team from Toshiba was unable to organize a face-to-face event. In its place, a video was created for the residents of Sunbeam Place @ Children’s Society consisting of a short clip on Toshiba’s contribution to sustainability and a message from Toshiba.

“Toshiba is honored to partner with Sunbeam Place @ Children’s Society again this year to make a meaningful contribution to the children and youth of our community,” mentioned in the video by Mr. Fukuchi Hiroshi, Corporate Representative – Asia Pacific, Toshiba Corporation and Managing Director, Toshiba Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd.

Similar to 2020, this year’s fundraising was carried out via Give2Children (G2C) ― an online crowdfunding platform by Singapore Children’s Society. In addition, donations-in-kind and sponsored lunch were provided to beneficiaries. Donations-in-kind includes essential medical supplies such as face shields, alcohol swabs and Kool fever patches.

As part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity, to promote sustainability awareness to our children and youth, a tote bag design competition was held for the residents of Sunbeam Place @ Children’s Society. A total of 20 tote bag kits with paints were provided to the residents to design and paint, based on the theme of “A Sustainable World.” The top 3 winners were presented with book vouchers as prizes. We were genuinely impressed with the creativity and talent shown on the submitted entries. It is a delight to know that our children and youth recognize the importance of sustainability for our planet.

This year’s event once again create the opportunity for Toshiba to give back, we believe every helping hand will go a long way to make a meaningful difference to our communities, fulfilling our corporation’s purpose to turn on the promise of a new day.
