On 8 December 2017, as part of Toshiba Corporation’s “Simultaneous Social Contribution Action 2017”, employees from Toshiba group companies in Singapore spent half a day with children from Melrose Home at the Singapore Science Centre. Melrose Home is managed by the Children’s Aid Society.
Corporate Social Responsibility is tied closely to Toshiba’s management philosophy of total commitment to people and to the future, and the company is determined to contribute to enhancing the quality of life for all people, and ensure that progress continues within the world community.
Mr. Tatsuo Doko, Corporate Representative-Asia, Toshiba Corporation and Managing Director of Toshiba Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, started by addressing Mr. Frederick Low, Executive Director of Melrose Home, and Toshiba employees, before presenting three Toshiba laptops and gifts in the form of cash donations, book vouchers, gift vouchers, gifts and daily necessities contributed by Toshiba group companies in Singapore and individual employees to the Home.
Mr. Doko said, “Today’s youth and children represent the people and future that Toshiba is committed to, so education is very important. We hope that our gifts of laptops, book vouchers and other necessities will go a long way in helping the children and youth of Melrose Home chase their ambitions and achieve their dreams.”
Employees from Toshiba group companies in Singapore then accompanied the children from Melrose Home to the Singapore Science Centre where they had the opportunity to experience science through creative interactive exhibits and games. Also, through a movie experience at the Omni Theatre, the children were also able to learn about the science behind nature’s natural phenomenon, the Aurora, commonly known as the Northern and Southern Lights. The trip ended with a specially arranged lunch by Toshiba at a nearby mall.
This year, participants from nine Toshiba Group companies in Singapore – Toshiba Asia Pacific, Toshiba Electronics Asia (Singapore), Toshiba Singapore, Toshiba Memory Singapore, Toshiba Logistics (Singapore), Toshiba TEC Singapore, Toshiba Data Dynamics, Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions (Singapore), and TMEIC Asia – took part in this meaningful CSR activity.
Through activities like these, Toshiba aims to reinforce its commitment to people and the future.
