In response to recent media reports stated that: “Vietnam needs a budget of up to 600 billion USD to achieve the target of carbon neutrality by 2050, according to Kazuo Kusakabe, Chief Representative of Toshiba Asia Pacific Pte Ltd in Hanoi.”, we issued the following statement for clarification:

Kazuo Kusakabe, Chief Representative of Toshiba Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, spoke at a forum on measures to boost post-COVID-19 cooperation between Vietnam and Japan towards green growth organized by the Central Institute for Economic Management (CIEM) under the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) on February 15, 2023.

In some articles, the message was misinterpreted, exaggerating the numbers, which is not the main contents summary of the meeting.
The reference figure is just a preliminary idea under study and is yet to be investigated further by the appropriate organizations.

Mr. Kusakabe mentioned in his opening remarks that carbon neutrality could only be achieved by bearing a certain amount of costs, and delays in infrastructures projects approvals may hinder the achievement of the carbon neutrality roadmap. This forum is an excellent opportunity to discuss overall issues for Green Growth.

We are honored to participate in this meaningful forum. By utilizing our advanced technologies, Toshiba Group aims to contribute to Green Growth as examples of Vietnam-Japan collaborations.
